Hoxsie’s still busy, so more pretty pictures. This is a lovely map of the area that would become Collins Park in Scotia. This was 1905, so Washington Avenue was still the route of the trolley of the Schenectady Railway and the Fulton, Johnstown & Gloversville (though this map says, “FJ&A” instead of the more familiar “FJ&G,” perhaps for Amsterdam). Schonowe Avenue was the main trolley route into the village and was just known as The Dyke. There was a horse racing track and an ice house, but no Western Gateway Bridge — the current bridge landing at the end of Mohawk Avenue didn’t exist. The Collins, Sanders and Mynderse families were still very much a presence in this part of town.
